The Illinois River School
Few would guess from my deep southern drawl that I actually was born in Geneva, Illinois, practically on the banks of the Fox River. The Fox is a tributary that flows into the Illinois River. Both sides of my family came from that general area, and my father’s side, at least, hunted to put food on the table during the Great Depression. Although my father didn’t make his own decoys, some of his buddies had some historic blocks that came from the Illinois River region.
