A Turkey Tail
If you dont want to carve the whole bird, try some feathers.
Occasionally, I get the desire to put birds aside and try my hand at other types of carving. Even then, my mind is always thinking about the next project. One afternoon, while scouting around the woods close to my home, I came across a turkey’s tail feather. I wondered what I could do with it. Before long, I found two more tail feathers. Now the wheels started turning in my head. When I returned home, I got the idea to carve three turkey feathers on a single board. I’ll show you exactly how I carved and painted it. Be prepared to get a lot of practice with your woodburning pen on this project—and enjoy the reactions when you tell people you carved it from a single piece of wood.
