Nashville Style, Part One
Here's a warbler with some local flavor.
This project came about through a class I taught in Nashville, Tennessee. Obviously, when you’re in Nashville and a warbler is the subject, it has to be a Nashville warbler. The pattern I used for the class was for a generic warbler, meaning you can use it for several different birds, as their anatomy is basically the same. There are some subtle differences, though, such as tail length, wing chord, and overall length. It is your responsibility as an artist to know and fully understand your subject.
The Nashville warbler tends to be on the smaller side. It is overall shorter in length, with an average wing chord and a shorter tail. As with any bird you carve, gathering reference material is very important. Surround yourself with as much as you can find. You will be happily rewarded by the end product.
