No one has ever accused a hen bufflehead of being particularly colorful. When I paint my hen I want to make my color choices and apply my paint in such a way that I achieve a sense of depth and softness. One important thing to keep in mind is to try to avoid leaving any hard lines between colors on the completed hen. Your goal is to create a finished piece that will rival any drake bufflehead, despite the male’s brighter and flashier colors.
